Certainly there are some writers that have touched on this topic in various ways in the past (Braden is one). While this modality ushers from a material science perspective, the origin of this type of healing started with Mary Baker Eddy in her discovery Metaphysical Mind-healing as delineated in Science and Health.

Now, while this ended up as a religious denomination (something she desired to eschew, as she discovered it as a divinely scientific system of healing based in the method employed by Christ Jesus), Mrs. Eddy actually saw her system as being adopted by all religions as an efficacious means of healing for all. She truly was a pioneer in what we understand as quantum healing, though her method had a moral element to it.

This was discovered in 1875, and laid out in her book in that year. It is only in the past 30-40 years that the secular arena is catching up to what this amazing woman shared with humanity. The interesting thing is that anyone can practice this method independent of any religious affiliation, as it is truly a scientific system. As such it is effective at healing ALL manner of disease (dis-ease) as well as other cultural maladies, such as relationships, finances, employment, etc., not just physical healing.
